ABOUT

Carolyn is a “versatile young soprano” (Eugene Opera) with a “pure timbre” (Opera News) and “haunting” voice (Eugene Opera). With over a decade of vocal training, fifteen years of choral experience, and two years of involvement in both opera and early music, she has acquired a vast repertoire of vocal knowledge from a variety of periods and genres and is always eager to continue learning.

SOLO & ENSEMBLE EXPERIENCE

Throughout her academic career, Carolyn sang with a wide variety of groups including the University of British Columbia's Early Music Ensemble,  Eugene Opera, University of Oregon Chamber Choir (competing at both the the 2013 Fleischmann International Trophy Competition, where the choir received first place, and the 2015 Internationaler Kammerchor-Wettbewerb Marktoberdorf, where the choir received second place), University of Oregon Opera Ensemble, and the Oregon Bach Festival.

In addition to her work in various ensembles, Carolyn has also premiered over twelve contemporary works across North America and Europe (with pieces by composers such as Andrea Reinkemeyer and Cary Boyce), including three world premieres at the Uzmah-Upbeat International Summer School in Milna, Croatia, and two premieres at the 2016 Oregon Bach Festival's Composer's Symposium under the coaching of Roomful of Teeth’s Esteli Gomez and Ricardo Zohn-Muldoon.

Most recently, Carolyn performed in Persisting Sound's inaugural concert at the 2019 Siren Nation Festival and sang with In Medio during the Grotto's Festival of Lights. In 2019 she performed with the Portland Symphonic Choir and the Portland Phoenix Chamber Choir, competing at the Llangollen International Musical Eistedfodd in the UK; and she was also a guest soloist for both the Vivaldi Gloria with the South Puget Sound Community College Choirs in 2019 and the Student Orchestra of Greater Olympia's production of Handel's Messiah in 2018.
Carolyn is currently a member of the Portland-based chamber choir In Medio, the Tabor Wind Ensemble, and new music group Persisting Sound.
