The Odyssey was my first ever premiere! I wrote the piece for my high school Percussion Methods ensemble during my senior year of high school and our director decided to program it during our end of the year concert. He approached me one rehearsal and told me not only were we going to perform my piece, but I was going to conduct it and choose who would be playing each part. I was absolutely terrified as I had never presented my music publicly, let alone conducted anything before, but with his help and my wonderful classmates who took on the work with enthusiasm and a lot of hard work, we were able to pull it together for my very first world premiere! 

Without the student percussionists at David Douglas High School and Percussion Methods Ensemble director, Tom Muller, this work would never have come to life; and this work now holds a very special place in my heart.
