5.15 | Rose City Renaissance - The Penitential Psalms
Friday, May 15th @ 7:30pm
St. Mary's Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception
1716 NW Davis St, Portland, OR
Rose City Renaissance explores the Penitential Psalms: ancient cries of anguish, repentance, and hope that speak as powerfully today as they did centuries ago. The program features beloved masterworks including Purcell's Hear My Prayer, O Lord and Josquin's Miserere mei Deus alongside unrecorded treasures by Leonhard Lechner, the most gifted student of Orlando di Lasso. Period winds and strings (sackbut, shawm, recorder, dulcian, and viola da gamba) join the ensemble's voices, bringing rich contrasts of texture and dialogue to the double-choir repertoire.
